La resurrezione di Gesù è l'evento centrale della narrazione dei Vangeli e degli altri testi del Nuovo Testamento: secondo questi testi, il terzo giorno dalla sua morte in croce Gesù risorse lasciando il sepolcro vuoto e apparendo inizialmente ad alcune discepole e quindi anche ad altri apostoli e discepoli. Per il Cristianesimo l'evento è il principio e fondamento della fede, ricordato annualmente nella Pasqua e settimanalmente nella domenica.
Il motivo è stato abbondantemente utilizzato dagli artisti più famosi lungo la Storia dell'Arte.

A ressurreição de Jesus é o acontecimento central da narração dos Evangelhos e dos outros textos do Novo Testamento: segundo estes textos, no terceiro dia após a sua morte na cruz, Jesus ressuscitou deixando o túmulo vazio e aparecendo inicialmente a algumas discípulas e depois também a outros apóstolos e discípulos. Para o cristianismo, o evento é o princípio e o fundamento da fé, lembrado anualmente na Páscoa e semanalmente no domingo.
O motivo foi amplamente utilizado pelos artistas mais famosos ao longo da história da arte.
